Have you ever felt like you don’t realize that your actions are reaching a relevance you could never expect? Felt like the dimension of the reality is overflowing you? That was how we felt through all this experience.

We crossed the Atlantic, from Barcelona to NYC, because we were nominated to the WTA (World Technology Awards) at the category of Marketing and Communications. We thought that we had no chances but at the same that it could be a good experience for us as well as a great oportunity to meet interesting people, so we decided to go.

We arrived at the Big Apple having only one night of hotel booked and without knowing where to sleep on the next night. We couldn’t afford the price of one whole week of hotel so the next step was try hard to find a place, preferably a flat, to stay for the rest of the days. Fortunately we met a very nice girl, Jenny, rented us her flat for five days!

Our next challenge was: How were we going to dress for the black tie gala? We had to ask the hotel recepcionist where to rent a tuxedo so she gave us an adress. There we got. A place full of smokings and there we were, taking the sizes of our bodies to put them on for that night.

So, having the dressing and living stuff solved, we could find time to visit the city and to arrange some different meetings with different people while we waited for the gala’s day.

Finally and without realizing, we arrived to the day of the World Technology Awards gala. Everything was fantastic, full of people from different countries with very interesting stories and facts, so we spent a really wonderful time there! While the different categories awards were being given, our nerves were increasing by moments. And then…The winner of our category was announced…”OMG, has she said our name”? - We asked ourselves. There were some seconds of spectation and then we realized that Yes! She did! Joan stood up and went to the scenario whithin the incredible happiness of all the team.

Not having enough, on our last day in NYC, we went to Josep Guardiola’s house where he congratulated us on winning the prize. Then César, his driver, brought us to the airport!

For sure we’ll remember this journey forever, NY is an amazing city wich impressed us very much.

Special thanks to David, Laura and Aida who were our trip advisors in NY and of course Jenny who rented us her flat and joined for some beers.

Do you think your uWhisp account seemed a bit impersonal? One of the features from the new uWhisp is the possibility you have to add a username to your account.

Why a username? A username enables you to be called and recognized the same way that in your other social networks or social profiles. A username also gives you the opportunity to easily identify your whisps and leave your comments on others.  It’s a question of coherence, if you have a personality, then, does it sound about right to have it at the net too?

That’s why our new intranet gives you the chance to do it! It’s an easy step that you can follow and enjoy this new feature.

You just have to go to uWhisp and press SIGN IN button, which appears at the top right side of the page. You will see you have two options when you get there.

If you already have an uWhisp account, you just have to insert your e-mail and your password. As you will see, you will appear at the uWhisp Intranet at the Profile Settings. There you have the option to choose your username as you like. Once you have it, you just have to press save changes. You must also know that you can change it at any time you think.

In case you still don’t have an uWhisp account, you have to press the SIGN IN button at the start page and there press the ‘Don’t have an account’ button.

You can now decide your username from the very first beginning, insert your e-mail, and your password and you will have it.

Just press SIGN UP and there you go!

It’s been a year since the Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, passed away. A year after, Apple makes him a tribute, just as many people. He left us a creative legacy that, besides the diversity of opinions about the brand, has definitely changed technology usability.

Although here in uWhisp, as usual in everywhere, the position and the constant battle between Android and Apple is also present, we all think that mr. Jobs tought us something that is really important in entrepreneurship.

Here you have the text of Apple Inc. advertising campaign advertisement in 1997:

"Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." – Apple Inc.

    Think Different, 1997

These are lines that show encouragement and inspiration, lines full of hope and willingness that helped us thinking we were going to build something great! It may sound as too optimistic, but, aren’t big ideas considered as quite silly at the beginning?

Great ideas doesn’t care about age, great ideas appear anywhere, at any time, while having the mind occupied in something you think you can improve it, while searching for the way to do it. Trust in your idea, believe in it and don’t think it’s silly because it may not although people have this impression at the beginning.

No one ever said that bringing something into live would be an easy task, believe in everything you can do, because it is the power that can help it get to success in the future. Failures are the the way you learn and what gives you the strength to move on and to improve and keep trying.

Easy and simple ideas are normally the successful ones, are the ones which revolutionize the world. Want to have a successful idea? Think about your daily activity! Social networks are conversations, every time more and more personal, here’s where uWhisp gets into. Aren’t these conversations even easier using the voice? This is where all started, with the need to humanize them.

So, have an idea is not about to think “Why?”, it’s more about to think Why not?

    Let’s THINK DIFFERENT!

It is often said that opportunities come not to lose them. Opportunities come to stay, or, at least, this is what happened to uWhisp.

The four uWhisp founders, in that moment, UPC students, didn’t think twice to the opportunity that was facing them, even without knowing what idea they were going to develop.

The initial idea of what we nowadays know as uWhisp, came from a conversation between friends and few months after, HackU competition organized by Yahoo! gave them the opportunity to make it real in just 24 hours for the first time in Europe. 24 hours of developing, hours of code and caffeine, of euphoria, depression and discussions but, after all, hours full of illusion and teamwork to develop the hack.

The project, that was initially called VoiceU, received great and positive reviews from competition members, other participants and the critics, so VoceU became one of the 3 finalists of the competition, what motivated us to keep on working to make the project a reality. For this reason, HackU can be known as the very first origin of uWhisp.

Who could think that a simple conversation between friends could arrive this far?

The task now is to keep working to make it better!
